Meeting explaining CART -  Communication Access Realtime Translation.   One topic of the Chapter's meetings held to educate and inform about hearing loss.

Hello everyone - thanks so much for visiting our new website!

We have been approved and are on the website for possibly obtaining a grant from "A Community Thrives" - an effort with USA Today.  See    Look for gallery#57946897.

Now we need votes!  Lip Reading can do SO MUCH to help many people.  For those who are hard of hearing, even if they wear hearing aids, the benefits are great!  So pass the word, the Hearing Loss Association of America's Treasure Coast Chapter and the Fort Pierce Lions Club want the votes to get this through the voting process and make lip reading a viable benefit for many on the Treasure Coast.

Chapter Update:

Our March meeting is special = Guest Speaker Joe Dashiell will explain his new invention, the looped table, plus explain looping and other assistive listening aids.  The March meeting is moved to the 2nd Saturday, JUST FOR MARCH, in Room 103, Building A, Indian River State College Mueller Campus, 6155 College Ave., Vero Beach.  Building A is one of the two older college buildings on the South side of College Ave.  Please come and join us on Saturday, March 11th at 10:30 AM!

We are now meeting on the 3rd Saturday of the month (10:30 AM),  at Indian River State College Mueller Campus, 6155 College Lane, Vero Beach.  Come, join us!  (Note:  The room # may change per semester).  Our December 2016 meeting is in a special location, due to the College's need for all rooms for exam time.  The meeting is free and open to the public.

Our Chapter is looking for new members, volunteers and Board Members willing to serve an hour or two a month to continue reaching the many people who want to be part of an organization that understands hearing problems. We need help with our web page, we need someone to help email and call those who are on our list about coming to meetings, we need people who wish to volunteer  to help in other ways, including setting up the portable looping system before each meeting (guys, here is where you can shine!).

If you would be interested in volunteering to help our Chapter (one or more hours a month) as a volunteer, or serve on our Board of Directors, please contact us - use the contact page, or the email address:, or call Cheryl at (772) 468-0123.  Our Chapter serves the Treasure Coast, and we are looking for members and volunteers from all areas of the Treasure Coast.

Our Hearing Resource Guide is out!  Thanks to Thrivent Financial for their donation toward printing costs!  To request a copy via email, please use  You will be amazed at all that is in this book!

This website is a work in progress, and you will see more photos, news and hearing-related items appearing from time to time, so please check back often.
